Homepage Editors at MLB play a direct, hands-on role in selecting and shaping the baseball content presented to fans through our app, website and emails.
We want someone who's a baseball super-fan, but also someone who appreciates the lighter side of the game and is inclusive of the casual fan; can think and write quickly, interestingly and accurately; comes up with engaging headlines; and is intuitive about which types of content will resonate but also adept at utilizing traffic data to inform their decision making.
This position includes direct communication with senior editors and requires building a rapport with a staff of reporters, game producers and researchers, as well as being comfortable taking charge and delegating as necessary.
Qualifications
- Excellent copy-editing skills
- Obsessive about accuracy
- Previous work experience at a sports league, team or publication, or similarly relevant experience
- Work well on deadline and in fast-paced situations with multiple responsibilities
- Experience with web publishing and content management systems
- Thorough knowledge of baseball
- Sound news and feature judgment
- Social media savvy
- Basic HTML and Photoshop skills
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Ability to stay supremely focused while working remotely
- Must be available nights and weekends

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000.
As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision. In addition to your salary, MLB believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for its employees.
